Towing Morris County NJ: the questions callers ask, answered the way the dispatcher answers them
These are the questions Morris County callers raise most, from the Route 24 towns to the lakes. The answers come from the same desk that picks up your call.
Everything Morris County drivers ask before they book a tow
All 39 towns are covered, the trucks start in Linden, the Route 24 side is closest and the lakes farthest, the fee is the same in every town, mileage is quoted first, businesses can be billed monthly, and no membership is needed.
Is your towing company actually located in Morris County?
No, and we would rather tell you now than after you wait. Our trucks are dispatched from a yard in Linden, Union County. Route 24 brings them into Chatham and Madison in about half an hour, and farther towns take longer.
How long will a tow truck take to reach me in Morris County?
From the yard, about 30 to 35 minutes to Chatham, Madison or Florham Park, about 40 to Morristown, and 40 to 45 to Parsippany or Hanover. Rockaway, Dover, Mount Olive and the lakes are an hour or more. If a truck is already in the county, the dispatcher quotes from that one.
Do you cover all 39 towns, even the small ones like Victory Gardens or Mount Arlington?
Yes. Every municipality in Morris County dials the same number, (908) 666-3168, and gets the same price list. Small boroughs are covered exactly like Morristown or Parsippany.
Does a tow from Budd Lake or Lake Hopatcong cost more because it is far away?
No. The booking fee is the same in every town. Mileage is counted from your car to its destination, not from Linden, so a Budd Lake car going to a nearby garage keeps a short mileage line.
What does a tow cost in Morris County?
The booking fee is $149 by phone or $129 online, covering dispatch and hook-up. Mileage to your chosen address is added and read out before dispatch. Winching or dollies are quoted separately and only if needed.
Why is it cheaper to book online?
You enter the details the dispatcher would otherwise type in, and the $20 saved comes off your fee. The booking page suits planned tows; call if you are stranded.
Should I schedule a tow from the western part of the county instead of calling for one now?
If the car is safely parked, often yes. A booked window in Mount Olive, Roxbury or Jefferson means no waiting on a cold roadside. If you are stuck in traffic or unsafe, call now and we send the nearest truck.
Can you tow my car off I-80 or I-287?
Yes, ramps, shoulders and local roads at the exits are direct dispatch. If State Police have already called their own truck to a live lane, ask for the car to be left at a safe lot, and we take it from there.
I am driving to the shore through Morris County. What about the Parkway?
On the New Jersey Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway the shoulder itself is served by the Turnpike Authority's authorized garages; book with us anyway, and once the authorized truck has the car off the highway we take it from the exit or the garage's lot to the shop or driveway you choose, at the same flat quoted price.
My car broke down near Morristown Medical Center. Can you come to a hospital garage?
Yes. Tell the dispatcher which garage or lot and which level. Most hospital calls are batteries and lockouts, each one flat price, and a tow is added on the same visit if needed.
Do you tow electric cars and AWD SUVs?
Yes, on a flatbed so no wheel touches the road. Tell the dispatcher the make and model and whether the car will shift into neutral.
Can you move a box truck or a bus in Morris County?
Yes. Medium and heavy-duty trucks handle box trucks, shuttle buses, work vans and tractors. They are quoted on their own because they need a bigger unit.
My battery died at the Madison or Morristown train station. Is that a tow?
Usually not. The driver brings a jump pack, and a jump is one flat price with no mileage. If the battery will not hold, the tow goes on the same visit.
Will you tow my car to a shop outside Morris County?
Yes. Essex, Union, Somerset, Passaic, Sussex, Warren and Hunterdon are all regular destinations, priced as booking fee plus miles. Longer trips become a long distance tow.
Is there a night, weekend or snow-day surcharge?
No. The price list does not change with the hour, the day or the weather. Snow can lengthen the drive, and the dispatcher tells you that instead of charging more.
Do I need AAA or a membership to use you?
No membership. You pay per job, and the itemized receipt works for reimbursement from a roadside plan or insurer.
What forms of payment do you take?
Cash, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Apple Pay and Google Pay. Cash and card are the same price.
My company has offices along Route 10 in Hanover. Can we open an account?
Yes. Office parks, dealers, repair shops and fleets can hold an account with a rate sheet, booked pickup windows and one monthly invoice on net terms.
After a crash, do I have to use the tow truck the police call?
Where police allow it, you can name your own tow. Tell the officer ours is coming, and the car goes to your chosen body shop, not a lot that charges by the day.
Will there be a storage or release fee?
No. We have no storage lot. The car goes straight to the address you gave, so there is nothing to store and nothing to release.
Can I ride with my car in the tow truck?
Yes, in most cases one passenger can ride in the cab at no charge. Mention it when you call so the driver expects you.
